Emily has worked in international student ministry with Bridges International for 20 years in a variety of locations in the US (Chicago, University of Illinois) and abroad (Skopje, Macedonia) and virtually as a leader, coach, and now as a Spiritual Director. She received her certification as a Spiritual Director through The School of Sustainable Faith in 2023. Her church background is vast and varied and includes being raised in the OCA (Orthodox Church in America) and coming to understand God more deeply through the Bible in several Protestant and non-denominational affiliations. Presently she celebrates liturgy in the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, but embraces the diversity of multiple Christian expressions of prayer and worship. Emily identifies as an Enneagram 1w2 (The Advocate) and MBTI preference is INFJ. A life-long seeker and creator of beauty, you may find Emily on any given day tending her backyard garden, walking in the woods, handcrafting herbal infusions, knitting or watercolor painting. Emily's journey with complex chronic illness for the majority of her adult life has created in her a deep compassion for suffering and believes that Jesus' solidarity in becoming human profoundly meets us in the challenges of life in a body. She approaches Spiritual Direction at the intersection of suffering and compassion having deeply experienced "The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3,4)
